WHAT IS SCENE DESIGN?
Scene design is a field of professional, artistic, curatorial, theoretical and – critical practices which arose from the field of set design. The concept of scene design entered Serbian language in order to define the integrated process of thinking, creation and realization of stage scene in the theatre and the other forms of spectacle. Within a theatre practice, scene design extends over different fields of scene creativity – scene architecture, technology, set design and design of all the elements of inscenation. As a separate artistic and curatorial discipline, scene design belongs to interdisciplinary field which joins architecture, performing and visual arts. For the first time in Serbia, scene design is developed into a study programmes at all three educational levels – undergraduate, master and doctoral academic studies.

WHO ARE THE PROFESSORSON SCENE DESIGN PROGRAMMES?
Among the professors at all three levels of studies there are eminent experts, artists and theorists from the Department of Architecture and Urbanism, other departments on the Faculty of Technical Sciences, as well as the professors from the Academy of Art, Novi Sad and five other faculties and academies from Belgrade.
Furthemore, the list includes visiting professors from six prestigious Europen and American Universities including Royal Welsh College from Cardiff, DAMU from Prague, Akademija za gledališče, radio, film in televizijo from Ljubljаna, Aalto University from Helsinki, Stanford University from USA, LASALLE College of the Artsfrom Singapore, Technicali Universityfrom Cluj, Romania.
WHAT PERSPECTIVES ARE THERE UPON GRADUATION?
Experts in the field of scene architecture, techniques and design are constantly needed in professional practice. Graduated students may find employment in the theatres, cultural and educational institutions and companies, in public as well as private sector, or may persue independent freelance career. By completing some of the three levels of studies, students are able to enter the market as engineers of scene architecture, techniques and design; set designers; technical directors and technical producers; scene projects managers; theorists of scene art; artists and curators of scene design; etc.
