OUR ASSOCIATES AND STUDENTS PARTICIPATED IN THE LIGHT FESTIVAL ’TESLA LIGHT GALLERY’
Tesla Light Gallery is part of Doček, a platform that marks the transition between the two calendar years through a multitude of events, for which the whole city becomes a stage. International and local artists, as well as students, explored light as a life principle and pervasive energy, transforming through their works the baroque ambience of the Suburbium of Petrovaradin Fortress into a place of togetherness.
Undergraduate students of Scene Architecture, Technique and Design, as well as master students of Scene Architecture and Design from the Faculty of Technical Sciences in Novi Sad, participated in the festival program with their artistic work, while their creative process was led by Milica Stojšić, PhD, curator and artistic coordinator of the Tesla Light Gallery festival. Students Marija Varga, Nikola Stojadinović, Milica Surutka, Jelena Ivančević and Danijela Matović are the authors of the artwork svetLOST, which explores the topic of light pollution, and asks the question – can something be life energy and negatively affect this same life? Exposing the audience to the direct impact of light pollution, the paper motivates the audience to ask about the impact of artificial light on the rest of life on the planet, through the influence on bird migrations, circadian rhythms of humans and other species, but also the disappearance of the starry sky for all of us living in cities. The light installation svetLOST was set up in the tunnel of the Belgrade Gate, and was realized in the production of the Foundation ’Novi Sad – European Capital of Culture 2022.’ Dragana Vilotić, PhD, is the author of stage design for music events as part of the December 31 reception. It was of great importance to link the scene design for the music part of the program, with the artworks realized within the program of Tesla Light Gallery festival, while it was also based on and inspired by Tesla’s understanding of light as an all-encompassing energy.
